She is a Magna Cum Laude BA from the University of Puerto Rico and a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Puerto Rico's Law School.
Ms. Martínez has over twenty-five years of experience in counseling and complex commercial and corporate litigation, performing in the areas of commercial, entertainment, intellectual property, advertising telecommunications, distribution law and environmental litigation. Ms. Martínez has represented corporations in a variety of claims and in all phases of complex civil litigation, including internal investigations, jury trials and mediation.
Ms. Martínez has represented corporations, officers and directors object of environmental claims in all phases of complex civil litigation, depositions and trials, including internal investigations. As local counsel, she has also represented one of the nation's largest waste management corporations in a multi-million dollar response action and currently represents the company, in the administrative proceedings of a similar action. She has also worked in public policy and has assisted clients in the coordination of lobbying efforts and government initiatives. She has managed specialized projects directed to drafting special interest groups’ legislation.
Furthermore, over the last seven (7) years, she has assisted clients, as local counsel, in actions related to local unjust employment termination, benefits, and in the drafting and preparation of seminars related to the local Domestic Violence Law and Protocols, and employee regulations and manuals, as well as, in their implementation. Ms. Martínez has worked on various aspects of notarial law, such as powers of attorney, trusts, wills and different types of loan agreements and other financing documents; drafting and authorization of deeds of purchase and sale, and commercial and residential leases. She has also counseled domestic and multinational entities in general commercial and distribution contract as well as special projects.
Ms. Martínez has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
