Mr. Avila-Sanchez has over twenty years experience in the field of human resources and management. He represents employers in the many aspects of employment law and litigation, including cases before administrative agencies and state and federal courts involving employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and traditional labor disputes; counseling employers concerning reductions in force, employee discipline and termination, investigation of employee complaints, OSHA, and wage and hour matters; advising employers regarding legislative development and changes in applicable case law, statutes and regulations; and training employers and their employees in a variety of workplace issues. He has been involved with collective bargaining preparation, with WARN act compliance procedures for many companies, and with the day-to-day counseling of clients in methods to prevent or avoid litigation.  Mr. Avila-Sanchez also represents companies in matters involving covenants not to compete and the protection of companies' confidential information and trade secrets. 

Mr. Avila-Sanchez has a broad practice in administrative and regulatory law that involves a wide variety of activities subject to regulation by administrative agencies of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, such as litigation in administrative and judicial forums, legislative drafting and advocacy, licensing and permitting, and structuring and negotiation of business transactions. He is well equipped to assist our clients in developing comprehensive strategies and solutions for doing business in an environment of complex and overlapping state regulation.

Mr. Avila has experience handling notarial matters, such as preparation of deeds of purchase and sale, mortgage and constitution of condominiums; and commercial and residential leases.

Mr. Avila regularly offers seminars to different professional associations as well as clients’ seminars and lecture in employment and labor law and human resources.  He is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and the First Circuit United States District Court of Appeals.

On 2010, Mr. Avila was appointed by the Foreign Affairs Department of the Government of Mexico as Counselor for the Consulate of Mexico in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
